February 2nd 2023 Feature Roundup

Current Theme Version: 5.20.11
Current Blocks Version: 4.7.9

Normally we’d be posting about new features and updates we’ve added to the platform since the last feature roundup, but since this is the first one, we are going to just summarize some of the latest features we’ve pushed up this week.

Blog Updates

We’ve made a bunch of updates to add options to blog layouts. You can select any of these new options from CustomizerBlogSettings. The available layouts are:

These formats are also all available in the Posts block, so you can use them anywhere on your site.

Featured Blog Posts

We’ve also added the option to feature your most recent blog posts at the top of the front page of your blog. It’s pretty nifty and there are a bunch of different display options already built in. You can select any of these new options from CustomizerBlogSettings.

Think that’s cool? Check this out. Additionally, any of these options can use any of the following blog post display options:

We didn’t stop with the main blog page options, though…

Blog Image Sizes

Now you can choose what image size you want to use on your blog. These can be square, rectangle, or natural (which just uses the size the image actually is).

You can select any of these new options from CustomizerBlogPost Cards.

The natural images look especially good with some of the new blog layout types if you have portrait-sized images. Check out below.

Blog Post Pages

We’ve added sidebar functionality to the single blog post page. This works completely independently of the main blog page, so you can have the sidebar on the blog page but not the post pages, or vice versa (or both or neither).

If you have a sidebar on the blog posts pages, block widths flatten out, meaning that all blocks will be the full width of the content. This means that align wide, align full, and default alignment will all be the same width.

You can select any of these new options from CustomizerBlogPost Pages.

Timeline Block Update

Added a completely new display option to the Timeline block. In addition to the standard alternating display, you can choose the uniform display to left align the entries.
