A domain name is the unique web address that identifies a website, like or A website actually “lives’’ on a server, which is identified by an Internet Protocol (IP address). These addresses are long strings of numbers, and a name is much easier to remember. The Domain Name System (DNS) maps these web addresses to IP addresses.
